B1 VISA - VISITOR FOR BUSINESS
The B1 visa is available for non-U.S. citizens coming to the United States temporarily for a particular business related purpose. These purposes may include:
Negotiating a contract;
Taking orders for a non-U.S. employer;
Consulting with a business partner or associate;
Litigation;
Working on non-U.S. commercial or industrial equipment; or
Attending a scientific, educational, professional, or business conference, convention, or seminar for specified dates.
B1’s are approved for the amount of time the person needs to complete his or her business activity in the United States. A B1 visitor may request an extension for up to one year on his or her visa.
